Control time
Time spent in a dominant position: on top on the ground, or pinning an opponent against the fence in the clinch.
Control time is the clearest single measure of grappling dominance, and judges reward it. Our control share is control time divided by time fought, so it compares across fights of any length.
It is reported per fight and per round. A round won on control with few strikes landed is a familiar pattern in close decisions.
The common mistake
Control is not damage. A fighter can control for minutes, land little and still lose the round on the scorecards.
