Decisions and scorecards

also: judges' scorecards · decision

A fight that reaches the final bell is scored by three judges, round by round, on the ten-point must system.

Each judge gives the winner of a round 10 points and the loser 9 or fewer. A unanimous decision means all three judges agree, a split decision means two of three, and a majority decision means two agree and one scores a draw.

get_event and get_fight return each judge's total where it is published, so close decisions can be studied against the round-by-round numbers.

The common mistake

Judges score rounds, not fights. A fighter can land more over the whole fight and still lose two rounds to one.
