FighterAPI vs the Kaggle UFC datasets

Kaggle UFC datasets are free CSV snapshots updated by their authors. FighterAPI serves fight data updated every morning, queried per request.

The UFC datasets on Kaggle are free CSV files, scraped from UFC Stats and, in the Ultimate UFC Dataset's case, bestfightodds.com, that are as current as the last time their author ran the scraper. FighterAPI serves fight results, per-fight stats, fighter profiles and ratings for every UFC card since 2000, and per-round stats for nearly all of them, updated each morning, over REST and MCP.

For a one-off model on history the files are hard to beat. They stop being the right tool when you need this weekend's card, a fighter's latest fight, or the same data from an app or an AI assistant rather than a notebook.

Use the Kaggle UFC datasets instead if

  • You are training a model on history and a fixed snapshot is fine: the files are free and fast.
  • You want betting lines before 2024: the Ultimate UFC Dataset has historical odds from bestfightodds.com, and FighterAPI's start in 2024.
  • You work entirely in a notebook and never need the data from anywhere else.

Questions

Is there a UFC dataset that stays up to date?

The Kaggle datasets update when their authors re-run them. FighterAPI updates every morning, including results from the night before and lines for upcoming cards.

Can I export FighterAPI data to CSV?

Responses are JSON; any tool that reads JSON writes CSV. A fighter's whole history is one call, a card is one call.
