Analysts and researchers

Round-by-round numbers for UFC cards since 2000

Strikes by target and position, takedowns, control time and submission attempts for nearly every fight and round.

Fight research means scraping pages one at a time and reconciling names across sites.

The data exists; getting it into rows is the work.

What to build

Styles in numbers

Strikes split by head, body and leg, and by distance, clinch and ground, describe how a fighter fights, round by round.

Leaderboards with a minimum sample

Rates per 15 minutes and defense figures across the whole roster, filtered by weight class and era.

Ratings over time

Our Elo, before and after every fight, for trajectory and strength-of-schedule work.

What it will not do

  • A few dozen fights, mostly from 2016 to 2019 and Ultimate Fighter semifinals, have no stat sheet.
  • No positional tracking: strikes are counted, not located on the body beyond head, body and leg.
